Family Lives, London and South East awarded Valuing Volunteer Management Award 2013

Hatfield based parent support charity Family Lives has won the Valuing Volunteer Management Award for the second time.

The award, granted by the Volunteer Centres Hertfordshire and awarded by the Viscountess Trechard, High Sherriff of Hertfordshire, was established to champion organisations which demonstrate quality in their volunteer management.

Sue Beaumont, Family Lives Service Manager said:

“Volunteering is the backbone of Family Lives and is a great way for mums, dads and adult carers from all backgrounds to support families throughout Hertfordshire and the South East. We are indebted to our volunteers as they really do enable us to provide a first class 24 hour Helpline and face to face service to families in the community.  Parenting doesn't come with instructions and all our volunteers play a key role in enabling and empowering parents to find solutions to their own particular family problems.  What makes this award so special is that nominations can only be made by volunteers. As a team covering London and South East we work extremely hard to ensure that the volunteer’s journey in Family Lives is a rewarding and motivational one of continued support, enhancing our volunteers’ skill sets and meeting their individual needs. Our volunteers in turn deliver an excellent and professional service to our end users - one that we are all extremely proud of.”

As well as working with individual parents and families, Family Lives also works in collaboration with other agencies to support provide professional support. Hertfordshire County Council has commissioned Family Lives to provide group and individual supervision for Parent Support Advisors, Children Centre managers and Extended Services Coordinators working for the council.
