Anastasia de Waal Family Lives Chair

Anastasia has been Chair of Family Lives since 2009.   She is a social policy analyst, specialising in family and education. Since 2009 she has been Deputy Director at think tank Civitas.  Anastasia studied at the London School of Economics, gaining a BSc and MSc in Sociology. She is a qualified primary school teacher. Anastasia  can speak to the media on a wide range of issues including education and the broader issues that impact on the family.

Jeremy Todd, Family Lives Chief Executive

Jeremy has been Chief Executive of Family Lives for three and a half years.  He is a regular commentator and key note speaker on a range of parenting and family support topics ranging from family engagement in education to family health and wellbeing.  He is also a key commentator on the wider strategic role of the voluntary sector.  

Rosemary Spillman, Director of Services

Rosemary started with Family Lives as a volunteer in 1991, giving parents information about their nearest Family Lives Helpline service. As the demand increased she trained as a call taker, and as the service grew she progressed to supervisor, trainer and eventually Director of Services , managing Family Lives national team   She is knowledgeable on a wide range of parenting and family subjects.

Sandra Hiller, Regional Manager (London & Northern Home Counties) 

‘Sandra Hiller, Regional Manager for London and the South East has over 20 years’ experience working within Family Lives and the Family Support Sector.  A regular interviewee in both Broadcast & Print, Sandra recognises the challenges and complexities relating to family live and the emotional investment most parents make in their parenting.  Sandra can provide advice or assist on a whole host of family issues from unruly toddlers to ‘challenging teenagers’. 

Family Support Co-ordinator, Sara Hassell 

Sara Hassell’s key focus is working within schools supporting parents of children with early signs of social, emotional, health or behavioural issues.  Working directly with parents alongside school staff and other support agencies to prevent problems worsening and interfering with the child’s ability to engage with school and learning. Sara’s expertise is in the ability to understand the real issues that impact on families and to recognise that the focus and priorities of the parents might not always be the same as those of the school.
