This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new early years home learning programme in Tower Hamlets.

We are currently seeking a Bengali/Sylheti Speaking Area Coordinator to work with the Area Manager to set up ParentChild+ (formerly the Parent-Child Home Programme). You will manage and coordinate a team of volunteers to deliver the early years home learning programme in your area, as well as supporting a caseload of families.

ParentChild+ has been delivered in America for over 50 years, working one-to-one with families who face significant life challenges. The ParentChild+ model is based on twice-weekly home visits, for at least 46 weeks, by home visitors or volunteers.  It addresses a range of outcomes for parents whose children are at risk of starting school below the expected level, by offering free books and toys and modelling how to create a rich home learning environment.

You will work closely with the relevant local providers to recruit families; you will then oversee the implementation and delivery of the intervention to families in your area. In your area you will manage and support a team of volunteers to deliver the home learning service to vulnerable and low income families. You will hold a caseload of families.

The successful candidate must be fluent in Bengali/Sylheti language and experience of managing a project. Experience and knowledge of early years education is required as is experience of supporting families and managing staff/volunteers. You should have experience of building good relationships, have outstanding organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication. Commitment to equality of opportunity is essential.

The successful candidate is required to have degree in Early Years Education or Level 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent.

The salary for 25 hours per week is £22,111 per annum (including London weighting).
