Interested in becoming a volunteer?

For volunteers who work on our befriending services we provide a free 4 day befriending training course so you can support a family on one to one basis. The role involves building relationships with a parent, offering a listening ear, helping parents find their own strengths to build their confidence, supporting parent to access activities and information on other sources of support. In return you will receive supervision and support, and ongoing training from both our trained staff and external speakers.

Coronavirus update

At Family Lives we believe that our services are needed more than ever in the current crisis; we know that many families are experiencing even more challenges.

We are committed to supporting our families and are providing options to do this either through face-to-face home visits where it is possible and safe, or by phone or video link.

Energise Families Nottingham

Family Life can be tough but having fun together can be a beautiful thing! How can one of our befrienders help you?

  • Provide a listening ear, support and advice
  • Help you feel more confident as a parent and explore ideas and solutions together
  • Support you to become more active like going on short walks or playing outside and inside with your children
  • Come up with lots of ideas to have fun together as a family and get fitter

If you have a child aged 5-10 years you can either contact us yourself or ask someone such as your child’s school or health visitor to on your behalf.

Your befriender will visit you each week for up to 2 hours either at home or in the local community for up to 6 months – sometimes you might just want to chat about family life, other times you might want to go out and do something locally with your befriender – contact Kate on 07715 375342 or email
