Mum with new baby and daughter

Our wellbeing service

Family Lives offers a new borough wide perinatal support service for new and expectant parents living in Camden. The service will offer support for parents who are experiencing isolation to improve emotional wellbeing. We will work closely in partnership with Children’s Centre's/Family HUB partners, midwifery, health teams and mental health services. Whether a first child or new brother or sister, our perinatal service will work with mums and dads during the pregnancy and up to 24 months after birth, the perinatal period.

How we will support new parents and expectant mothers

The team of locally recruited volunteers peer supporters will visit parents in the family home as well as contact via texts or MS Teams. They will also offer a listening ear to help ease the demands of parenthood and support the couple relationship. Our range of volunteers speak several community languages too. The aim of this is to:

  • Improve mental health and wellbeing of new parents
  • Reduce social isolation of families
  • Increase self-confidence of parents
  • Support a positive relationship between parents and their baby
  • We welcome mums and dads to our own parenting groups and signpost to local services and resources.
