If you want to support local families in your area there are lots of ways you can get involved. From becoming a local volunteer home visiting befriender, supporting educational activities and trips, supporting our parenting groups, volunteering alongside our staff team from various family support programmes as well as becoming a volunteer remote call taker. Full training and support with all our opportunities will be available.

Volunteering

Our befrienders support parents with children 0-16 years in the home or in a community setting. During COVID-19 we are providing phone and virtual support. Full training will be provided to prepare volunteers for the role to support the families on a weekly basis. Activities include helping the family access services, provide support in attending meetings, support and confidence building around specific parenting issues, raising self- esteem and meeting the families’ health needs.

Family Learning and Support activities. You could help support set up of groups, activities and trips for families in Westminster. Working alongside a staff team including sessional employees in delivering educational and recreational activities for families.

Family Lives is also always needing remote call takers to support our national helpline. All you need is to have good listening skills, a computer, good internet connection and private space in your home. You will receive full training to support callers and signpost them to services.

We are particularly keen to also recruit speakers of community languages to reflect the diverse communities we serve.
