A former stockbroker, who wishes to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of his current voluntary work, says: “I have to say that I love voluntary work – I am addicted to it and I would love to do more! It’s great to be able to get together with likeminded people who are all so supportive. I would recommend volunteering to anyone.

“I always knew that I wanted to do some voluntary work as my family have done this for years and I really liked the idea. I worked on Family Lives’ free confidential, 24 hour Parentline and it was so rewarding to know that the person at the other end of the phone was listening to your every word and that when they put the phone down they would have gained something from our conversation.”
